Live Workshops for the National Counselor Examination and CPCE
The 'live' workshop conducted by Dr. Helwig is one day long -- from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. He has conducted over 240 during the past 20 years in 18 states with over 4,000 participants.
During the one-day review, Dr, Helwig focuses on four of the eight content areas that counselors struggle with most. These four areas are: Appraisal (tests and measurements), Research and Evaluation (statistics), Professional Orientation and Ethics, and Career Development. These areas have the second, third, fourth and fifth most questions on the National Counselor Examination. On the CPCE, all content areas have the same number of questions, 20. Dr. Helwig covers the other four areas lightly during the review session as there is simply not enough time to review all eight areas thoroughly.
He also discusses the National Counselor Examination, the CPCE, work domain contexts, scoring procedures, cutoff score determination and test-taking strategies.
As a professor with nearly 30 years of teaching counselor education students, he has taught five of the eight core areas.
All eight content areas and the other material identified is in the Study Guide for the National Counselor Examination and CPCE (sixth edition, 2011) which is the basic document used during the workshop. Following payment for a workshop, the Study Guide and a receipt will be mailed to you. Do bring the Study Guide to the workshop.
Most workshops are conducted at a hotel or on a college campus. Dr. Helwig usually does one in March and another in September in Denver and others around the country as universities or counseling associations arrange for them.
The cost of the workshop is $130.00 (or as listed) which includes the $79.95 Study Guide for the National Counselor Examination and CPCE. Because of travel costs, out-of-state workshops cost more.
